LIFE-SAVING SKILLS TO START A LIFELONG LOVE OF SWIMMING
Swim Lessons
The Y is “America’s Swim Instructor” and our South Shore YMCA swim lessons start at the right level for each swimmer to progress at their own pace.
The Y provides children across the U.S. with access to swim lessons and water safety education. The Y introduced the country to group swim lessons over 110 years ago in 1909. Now, as one of the largest community-based organizations in the country, we teach more than a million children, especially those most at-risk of drowning, invaluable water safety and swimming skills each year.

Adult Swim Classes
This supervised class will assist current lap swimmers in improving strokes, strength, and endurance to continue lap swimming with little rest. Great cardio-vascular improvement which will assist in all other sports, activities, and health.
Adaptive Swim Lessons
Open to children with intellectual and/or physical impairments, we emphasize each child’s abilities and design a group lesson based on Safety Around Water, basic swim skills and the Y’s core values.
Private Lessons
The Y offers private and semi-private lessons to further accommodate those looking to enhance their aquatic abilities; ranging from the most basic learn-to-swim skills to more advanced technical work. We cannot promise an instructor match at this time but can put interested swimmers on the waitlist and we will contact when a match has been made.

Trainings & Certifications
We offer both traditional certification courses as well as Blended Learning web-based/in-classroom style courses. Blended Learning combines online learning with in-person skills sessions conducted by a Red Cross certified instructor. The blended learning online sessions offer students a variety of elements to learn program content including videos, lesson narration and special interactive features. This allows for individualized, self-paced learning. Once the online session has been successfully completed, students practice skills and are assessed by the instructor during the in-person skills sessions.
