YMCA Cape Cod to Hold LIVESTRONG® Graduation for Cancer Survivors

West Barnstable, MA – On March 29th, YMCA Cape Cod will host 10 cancer survivors at Camp Lyndon for their annual LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA graduation.

The ceremony, which will run from 5:30 – 7:00 PM, will recognize and thank participants who completed the free 12-week program designed to help survivors regain the physical, emotional, and social strength they lost during treatment. The ceremony is open to program participants, family & friends, YMCA staff, and the community.

“This is one of the best programs the Y offers,” said Meridith Ingram, Senior Program Director at the Y. “It’s an honor to have a part in this program. The Livestrong Lifestyle Coaches and program participants are such amazing people”.

During the program, participants engage in small group training with certified instructors who focus on helping survivors regain strength, overcome fatigue, and increase flexibility. Perhaps more importantly, participants experience a sense of community, confidence, and comfort – feelings that are often diminished during treatment.

An evidence-based program, LIVESRONG® builds on medical research that shows the positive effects of moderate physical activity in individuals following cancer treatment.

The next program session will welcome its new cohort on April 24. To get involved, contact Meridith Ingram at [email protected] or call 508-362-6500 ext. 130.
