Here at the YMCA Cape Cod, we remain committed to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving your health and well-being and giving back and providing support to our neighbors. To help support the health of our members while the facility is closed, the YMCA Cape Cod has been streaming our favorite group exercise classes featuring your favorite group exercise instructors. Just because we aren’t in the same room doesn’t mean we can’t be here for each other, together.

3. Select the class you wish to attend.
4. Fill out a class waiver and click register.

Please note:  Outdoor classes with an asterisk* will not move indoors but will be on Facebook Live during inclement weather or when the temperature falls below 32 degrees with wind chill.  Please check the weather widget on our website’s main page for current temperature.

Indoor/Outdoor Classes

Social Distancing:

  • Face coverings are required during indoor classes.  Face Coverings are required during outdoor classes.
  • Instructors will take attendance and manage wait lists.
  • Indoor classes will be marked out in 14-foot sections.  Outdoor classes will be marked out in 10-foot sections.  Members stay distanced by staying in their designed sections.
  • Please exit the exercise area immediately after class ends to eliminate social gatherings.

Hygiene Protocol:

  • Hand-sanitizer will be available near the exercise area.
  • Restrooms are available for use.
  • Participants will bring their own water/beverage.
  • We strongly encourage hand washing with soap and water as soon as possible after class.

Inclement Weather:

  • If it is raining or snowing classes will be held inside.
  • If the current temperature is below 32 degrees including wind chill, classes will be held inside in the Cape Cod Room.
  • If it starts to rain, snow, freezing rain or there is active thunder and/or lightening during a class, the class will be moved inside immediately.
  • Classes are subject to change based on ever-changing weather conditions.

 Equipment

  • Yoga/stretching mats must be provided by the participant.
  • Staff will disinfect equipment between classes.

Indoor Cycling Class

Social Distancing:

  • Face masks are required while in the Y building.
  • Face masks are required at all times during class participation even with 14 ft. social distance between bikes.
  • Instructors will take attendance and manage wait lists.
  • All areas have new maximum occupancy.  Cycling Studio Occupancy = 6, including staff.  Observe signs at all entrances to areas and abide by numbers.
  • Please  exit the YMCA facility immediately after your workout to eliminate social gatherings.  New SELF CHECK OUT! Bring your card!

Hygiene Protocol:

  • Members are required to clean equipment after use.  Please indicate the “Sanitized” sign after use/cleaning and the “Not Sanitized” sign while using equipment.  Sanitizing wipes will be available on each bike.
  • Staff are required to monitor member cleaning and perform deep cleaning during the day.  Deep cleaning in accordance with CDC guidelines will take place mid-day and overnight.
  • Water fountains/bubbles are for bottle refill only.  Read signage for how to use safely.
  • We strongly encourage hand washing with soap and water as soon as possible after class.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in the exercise area.

Equipment:

  • Staff will also disinfect equipment between classes.
  • Indoor fans are strictly prohibited.

Locker Rooms/Showers:

  • Locker storage is closed.  Please store belongings in your vehicle or carry with you.
  • Clothing/belongings left in the locker rooms by members will be gathered into a laundry basket and brought to the front desk for member retrieval.  Members MUST keep their belongings in the area of the Y that they are currently in.
  • Restrooms are open. Hairdryers have been removed. No fans are permitted indoors.
  • Showering after exercising is permitted.  Changing after exercising is permitted.

How to join

What you’ll need:

  • Smart phone, tablet or PC with an internet connection
  • Headphones or speakers
  • Clear space

Please note that while most classes will not require specialized equipment, will need additional tool. For example Y-Cycle will require use of a cycling bike. The class description will note if you need anything extra for the workout.

Step 2: Find a safe and convenient place in your home to participate
Step 3: Position your device at a distance where you can see and hear the instructor
Step 4: You will get a Facebook Live alert on your phone at the scheduled time that will take you directly to the virtual workout
Step 5: Interact with your instructor and class via the comments section
